Drill to engage multiple agencies, response crews, train crews

NASHVILLE – On Wednesday, April 16, the WeGo Star will take part in a mock disaster exercise in Wilson County to refresh the safety training and increase the preparedness of first responders in the event of a real-life train emergency. The public is advised that there will be multiple emergency vehicles in the area for the exercise.

The drill, coordinated by WeGo Public Transit and Transit Solutions Group, an RJ Corman Railroad Group company, is scheduled to take place at the Lebanon Train Station, 334 West Baddour Parkway in Lebanon, starting at 9:30 a.m. The exercise will include the participation of a multi-agency team of local, state, and federal law enforcement, emergency response crews, healthcare providers, and operations management teams.

The drill will test emergency support functions and challenge WeGo Star staff and first responders with the task of moving many people during a mass casualty incident, while providing emergency medical services, and preserving evidence in case of a criminal investigation. The drill will be conducted outside of normal commuter operation and passengers on board will be volunteer participants.
