Journey Pass is Nashville's largest-ever fare-free transit program. Funded through Choose How You Move, Journey Pass gives eligible Davidson County residents free access to rides on WeGo Public Transit. Whether you're heading to work, school, a doctor’s appointment, the grocery store, or a community gathering, Journey Pass helps all of us get there.

Who’s Eligible?
Journey Pass is intended to make transit easier and more accessible for people living on limited income. The implementation of the program is happening in phases. In the first phase, which is underway now, Journey Pass is available to Davidson County residents who currently receive social services through select Metro departments and partner agencies. Implementing the program in phases allows WeGo to adjust operations as needed to handle increased demand, gather feedback from riders, and ensure the program is efficient, sustainable, and user-friendly before expanding to serve more people in 2026.
To ensure sign up is as easy as possible, the first phase uses current Metro service providers to verify a person’s demonstrated need. Their clients have already gone through income verification to access services, so this approach makes sign-up easier.
The income threshold for future expansion has not yet been determined, and feedback at [email protected] is welcome as recommendations are developed.
No additional documentation is required during this phase beyond verification of receiving services from a participating partner. This approach reduces barriers to access and ensures an equitable enrollment process. Current administering Metro partners include:
People receiving services from one of these Metro partners can sign up for Journey Pass at a scheduled outreach event.
New partner agencies are being added to the program regularly, so people interested in Journey Pass are encouraged to watch for updates at WeGoTransit.com. Anyone not currently receiving services from partnering Metro departments will be considered as part of the next phase of program expansion in 2026.
How It Works
Journey Pass rides are loaded onto a QuickTicket card. Each Journey Pass must be registered using a participant’s name, date of birth, and phone number/email address.
- Already have a QuickTicket card? Journey Pass will be added to it.
- Need a QuickTicket card? You can get a card by registering at a scheduled outreach event.
Once registered, you can ride for free on:
Note: Journey Pass does not cover WeGo Access On-Demand or Vanpool services.
This pilot phase allows WeGo to test operations, gather feedback, and ensure the program is efficient, sustainable, and user-friendly before a program expansion in 2026.
Household Passes
- Kids 4 and younger always ride free.
- If your child is 5–18 years old and doesn’t already have a StrIDe pass (MNPS) or WeGo Ride pass, they may be eligible for a Journey Pass, too.
